Three Things Only Christians Understand
In a world that chases fleeting trends and self-help slogans, there are truths so profound they remain hidden to those outside the faith. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 2:14, “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him.” Here are three realities that only those reborn in Christ truly grasp.
- The Sweetness of Forgiveness
Unbelievers may seek therapy or apologies, but they cannot fathom the soul-liberating joy of sins fully erased. When we confess, God doesn’t merely overlook our guilt—He remembers it no more (Hebrews 8:12). I once counseled a man crushed by decades of addiction. The moment he grasped Christ’s blood covering his shame, tears turned to laughter. Only Christians know this freedom isn’t earned; it’s received. - The Comfort of God’s Sovereignty
Secular minds see tragedy and cry “meaningless!” But we rest in Romans 8:28—all things work together for good for those who love God. My wife’s miscarriage devastated us, yet years later, that pain birthed our adoption of two precious girls. The world calls this a coincidence. We call it providence. Only Christians trace every thread of suffering to the Weaver’s loving hand. - The Longing for Heaven
Culture peddles “live your best life now.” Christians taste earth’s joys yet ache for the better country (Hebrews 11:16). Sunday worship gives foretastes—voices raised, bread broken, promises proclaimed. C.S. Lewis said our deepest desires are “good news from a country we’ve never visited.” Only believers feel homesick for a place we’ve never seen.
Friends, these aren’t theories—they’re lived. If you’re reading this and something stirs, that’s the Spirit knocking. Step into the light. The door is Christ.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jay
