The Spiritual Lesson Most Difficult to Learn

We teach giving, practice forgiveness, and seek God in prayer. Yet the one truth that keeps humbling us is this: God does not need our plans to fulfill His purpose.

We sing of His higher ways on Sunday, then rush to fix every problem on Monday. When trouble comes—health, work, or family—we often act as if everything depends on our next move.

Peter tried it on the water. One step of faith, then fear took over. Jesus did not calm the wind first—He asked, “Why did you doubt?” The storm was never the issue. Trust was.

We see it in our own stories. A serious diagnosis arrives. Prayers go up. Meals are delivered. Help is offered. All good. All human. Then someone quietly says, “I’m not demanding my way. I’m resting in His.” The room grows still. Faith deepens. Peace settles in.

The lesson? Surrender is not giving up—it is trusting forward. It is choosing to believe when answers are slow. It is saying, “You are God, and I am not.”

Tonight, whatever you’re holding too tightly, try this simple prayer: “Lord, I trust You. Help me let go.” It’s honest. It’s enough.

Sunday, we gather again. Come as you are. Bring your questions. Bring your burdens. We’ll lay them down together.

Walking with you,

Pastor Jay
